Building a scene

For the 3D part of this project, I knew that I wanted to construct a version of the steam punk bird that I had developed for my Logo.
I decided to make one out of jewellery wire, small cogs and tin foil. It took roughly three days to construct this with most of the time being put into forming the shape with the wire. I even placed some of the cogs on the inside of the bird to give it some more dimension.
I wanted to give the bird a sene to live in, this lead me to design a steam punk workshop to have as a backdrop.

I collected some scrap pieces of wood and other craft materials and began to work on the background. I used a dry-brushing technique to add a metallic  texture to the pipes as well as some of the smaller details within the background. Originally I was taking the photos in daylight, but I found that it didn't give the right affect. so i created a workspace under the table where i could control the lighting a little better. After taking the photos. I could then go onto developing the final poster in Photoshop.
